Localization of clutch plate stamping for the Lada Vesta vehicle

After the successful completion by NordPress Engineering engineers of the localization and stamping project for stator/rotor laminations in quantities of 1 to 3 million parts per month, the Customer set a new task: localization and stamping of clutch plates for the following vehicles: Lada Iskra, Lada Vesta, and Lada Azimut.

The monthly production program for clutch plates is from 2 to 4 million parts, with a minimum dimensional tolerance of no more than +/- 10 microns. Following the example of the previous project, we chose the solution of manufacturing dies for progressive stamping from carbide, where the hardness of the working parts ranges from 90 to 95 HRC.

It is worth noting that product quality and die service life are influenced not only by the high quality of die manufacturing, but also by production culture — keeping the work area clean, daily housekeeping, and the absence of debris in the stamping area. The dies are made of carbide, which has high hardness but is also quite brittle due to tungsten carbides. Therefore, the presence of debris or trash in the workplace is unacceptable and can lead to chipping of the working parts.

Thanks to the experience from previous projects, we were able to complete this project in less than 1 year. NordPress Engineering engineers launched large-scale serial production of clutch plates in St. Petersburg, where approximately 2 to 4 million clutch plates are stamped every month for the needs of the domestic automotive industry.
